What is 'Bo Po'?

"Bo Po" is shorthand for "body positive" which is the foundation of this business. Bo Po Candle Co is more than a candle company. Our goal is to promote peaceful relationships with food, movement, and body through connecting the atmosphere invoked by our scents to self-care exercises provided with each order. All of our fragrances have unique names to tie in to these concepts. 

What are your candles and wax melts made of?

Wax

We use 100% all-natural soy wax in all of our candles and wax melts. This soy wax is produced from U.S. grown soybeans.

Fragrance

Our products are scented with paraben and phthalate free fragrance oils specifically formulated and tested for use in candles. Most of our fragrance oils are infused with some essential oils. All of our scented products contain customized blends of multiple fragrance oils so you receive a truly unique scent experience!

Wicks

We only use cotton wicks in our candles that are lead and zinc free.

Concrete Jars

Our hand-poured concrete jars are sealed on the inside with a non-toxic, no VOC, water-based sealer made in the United States. This sealer is approved for use in candles. 

What are your room & linen sprays made of?

Base

Our room & linen spray base contains water, butoxydiglycol, and phenoxyethanol. It's biodegradable, eco-friendly, vegan, cruelty-free, VOC-free, alcohol free, DPG-free, paraben-free, phthalate-free, and California Prop 65 compliant. It uses powerful commercial grade odor eliminating technology while still being skin safe and friendly to the planet.

Fragrance

Our products are scented with paraben and phthalate free fragrance oil specifically formulated and tested for use in room & linen sprays. Most of our fragrance oils are infused with some essential oils. All of our scented products contain customized blends of multiple fragrance oils so you receive a truly unique scent experience!

Are your products handmade?

Yes! Amanda hand-pours every single product we sell. This includes not only our room & linen sprays, wax melts, and candles but also all of our concrete home decor (including our concrete candle jars!). She also designs all of the product labels and care cards. We put thought and care and a handmade touch into every aspect of Bo Po Candle Co.

Where are Bo Po Candle Co products made?

We are proud to manufacture all of our candles, wax melts, room & linen sprays, and concrete home decor in Montrose, Minnesota.

Can I reuse my concrete candle jar or tin?

Yes! Gently remove any excess wax with a spoon and wipe out the inside with a damp paper towel. Customers have reused our concrete candle jars for succulents, pens/pencils, and more! Tins make great office supply or other small item storage. Please note: candle jars and tins should NOT be reused to hold any food or beverage items as fragrance oil and wax residue is not safe to ingest. We do not offer candle refills at this time.

How can I maximize the burn time of my candle?

Please refer to the candle care card included with your order. 

Can I purchase your products in-person?

At this time, Bo Po Candle Co does not have a retail location. You can always find our products here on our website. We also attend a variety of local craft fairs and other in-person events in Minnesota. You can find our upcoming events here.

Are your products pet-safe?

While no scented product is 100% risk-free, we do our absolute best to ensure our products are as safe to use around our furry family members as possible (including our own dog, Eleanor!). We use 100% soy wax which is natural and cleaner burning than other waxes on the market. We also use synthetic fragrance oils (instead of essential oils that may be toxic to pets!) that are paraben and phthalate free and specifically manufactured to be safe to use in candles. In addition, our room & linen sprays are biodegradable, skin safe, vegan, and cruelty-free. Every animal is different, so it's best to monitor your pet for any signs of discomfort and to consult your pet's veterinarian with any specific concerns around using fragranced products in your home. And don't forget to keep any fragranced items out of reach of your pets so that they cannot ingest them or knock over a burning candle!
